Who Is Harry?From time to time we're asked "who is Harry?" Some have speculated we were named after the other famous Harry's of New York, Venice, and Paris. But this is not the case.Legend has it that the original owners decided to make a trip to Mardi Gras. While vacationing in New Orleans they were overwhelmed by the finest food and local good-time spirit. They were convinced the folks back home needed a restaurant with this food and atmosphere. There was but one small problem. Our free-wheeling bunch was broke. The way the story goes...someone had suggested they all risk their hotel money on a long shot at the race track. The vote was unanimous and off they went. We're not sure how much was wagered, or how much was won, rumor has it that "Harry the Horse" was a whopping 50 to 1. And from these winnings, came Harry's beginnings! Meager at first, but then exploded with a burst. Legend has Harry the toast of the track, since that day when he led the pack! |
